Viva was the daughter of Ripley and a UK import from Emberez, Roman.
Viva was a girl of real substance, wide and deep, thick neck, heavy bone, muscular. Weighing about 70kgs, she did not carry any excess fat, actually she was kept lean, so it was all bone and muscle, bone she inherited from her father. She was also a big girl, at about 25.5 inches tall.
Critique by Mr Bas Bosch (Belgium) Breed Specialist in April 2011.
Massively built bitch. Plenty of shape. Lovely type. Solidly built and very nicely constructed. Would prefer shorter body shape. Strong but feminine head with superb balance between skull and muzzle. Excellent skull shape, stop, eyebrow. Lovely coloured and well placed eyes. Beautiful expression. Very strong muzzle with surprisingly wide underjaw. Incisors well placed but should be larger. Excellent nose placement and chin mark. Well placed and carried ears, decent size. Nice furnishing. Highly typical broad and deep front.
Superb underline. Extra strong bone but clean. Strong front feet. Plenty of rib, decent strength of back, strong loins, superb hindquarters. Excellent condition and quality of coat. Typical balanced mover with a decent length of stride, drive ok.
Grading: Excellent
Viva passed away on the 8th of November 2013, suddenly, at home.
Apart from being a 'show dog' - she was first and foremost our pet, an awesome breed ambassador and our resident foster mum for all the rescue dogs that passed through our home.
Viva attended several community events, such as the Pet Expo, and would lie in the middle of the path accepting pats from passers by. As we are very active in rescue, we often brought dogs home to foster whilst they were rehabilitated, and awaiting their new home. Viva instinctively knew when they were intimidated by her size, and would often duck down, or lie down, to put them at ease to let them approach, especially the youngsters. She somehow managed to convey that they were in a great place, and not to worry. It's often so difficult to introduce and integrate new dogs into your home, but Viva made it so easy. She was a natural!
The easiest dog to live with, the best temperament, and the biggest heart. Our big 'pupzilla', we miss you.
